Last week the hubs caught a serious stomach bug (and a bug is an understatement). It was kind of weird since he never gets sick. Until about a couple of years ago, I was always the one to catch any illness in the air. I was the one getting taken care of by others (just ask my Momma). It’s a good feeling knowing that I rarely get sick anymore, and I can honestly attribute that to all the delicious green juices I drink and the clean, chemical, processed-free life I try to live each day!
I thought back to childhood and reminisced about what my mom gave me when I had the stomach flu. It hit me – I always had a refreshing, sugary, no-real-ginger ale. Don’t get me wrong, it’s delicious & the bubbles do settle a stomach, but I don’t exactly think a can of soda claiming to be made of real ginger is the best option. After all, the ginger is the main ingredient that helps soothe stomach pains. So what did I do? Well, I made my own of course!
The REAL Ginger Ale
- 2 green apples
- 1 inch + of fresh ginger
- 1 lemon wedge
- a few drops of stevia**
- sparkling mineral water
Juice the apples, ginger and lemon, or blend it in a very high-speed blender. Pour the juice into a glass and add a few drops of natural liquid stevia. Top with sparkling mineral water. Feel better :)
